Plain-language notice
Doll Crawl is a piece of interactive fiction and a real travelling-doll project. The dolls are ordinary dolls, the threat is made up, and nobody is in any danger.
What is real
- The dolls exist and really do travel, passed between people who choose to take part.
- Reports marked "Tag confirmed" came from someone holding the doll. Witness reports come from anyone and are reviewed first, but the site can't prove they're true.
What is fiction
- Threat levels, official notices and the tone of everything here.
- The "online" counter, some bulletin accounts, pins that seem to have moved, and messages saying a subject is near you. The site doesn't know where you are unless you choose to share it on a report.
What is kept
- Everything you put on a report is public, apart from the question about being alone, which is never saved.
- Your location is rounded to about 1 km before saving unless you choose to show the exact spot. The precise position is not kept.
- Hidden location data in photos is removed on upload.
- Scans are counted with no record of who scanned. IP addresses are used briefly to stop abuse and are not saved in the database.
- Accounts need only a name and password, with no email. You can delete yours from your account page.
- Place names are looked up through OpenStreetMap's search service, and map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap.
You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you want a report removed, or found a doll somewhere it shouldn't be, tell whoever passed it to you or post on the bulletin board and the site's keeper will deal with it.
